PTR 627 - Musculoskeletal Management I

This course prepares the student to evaluate, diagnose and treat common conditions of the musculoskeletal system. The student will conduct a comprehensive physical examination, including the case history, medical screening, and assessment of impairments of the movement system. Emphasis will be placed on clinical decision-making and integration of information from the clinical examination for the development of an evidence-based plan of care. The patient management model, as presented in the Guide to Physical Therapist Practice, will serve as an organizational framework for the practice of orthopedic physical therapy in a direct access healthcare environment. The lecture, laboratory, problem-based learning and clinical components of the course are integrated to optimize student learning. Prerequisite: Successful completion of all prior required PT courses.
