ENGL 141G - PI Shapes of the Imagination: Epic

(Perspectives I course) An introduction to epic as a cross-cultural literary genre.  Readings - drawn from Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas - may vary, though all expose cultural tensions in primary and secondary epics such as Gilgamesh, The Odyssey, The Mahabharata, Sundiata, Omeros, and others.
