INAD 515 - Social Studies Curriculum and Methodology for Inclusive Adolescence


This course combines a study of the function and organization of the adolescence-level social studies curriculum with a survey of current teaching resources and research-based strategies to address the learning needs of diverse learners in social studies. Students will study the development of social studies skills and concepts through a learner-centered approach, with an emphasis on inquiry methods. Will apply the principles, practices, and strategies of differentiated instruction to support the achievement of all students. Students will design and implement learning units that address the commencement-level New York State Learning Standards in social studies. Integrates the use of instructional and assistive technology. 25 hours fieldwork required.
