ENGL 403 - Language, Culture, and Power

Through close readings of cultural events and texts, we explore how power differences affect the language that creates our social realities. This seminar provides students with tools to analyze complex social issues before undertaking their own projects of interest. Course topics include colonialism; freedom movements; identity formation; social media; and the implications of “AI” technologies. Course Codes: BR. Prereq: ENGL.Q/F or LIT.Q, or COMM.Q/F.
