ENGL 364 - Reading Taylor Swift

We will approach Taylor Swift as both a songwriter and a cultural phenomenon. Examining Swift’s extensive musical catalog, we will interpret her lyrics as poetry and narrative using the tools of literary studies. We will call on media theory to understand how Swift has cultivated a devoted fandom that participates in her efforts to shape her public image and assert creative control of her work.
