TAS 353 - Data Ecosystems


Data powers everyday digital tech through apps, websites, and other human-computer interactions. We will explore both quantitative and qualitative methods for ethically collecting data formed by and through tech. Students will conduct surveys, digital ethnography, network analysis, and other methods for understanding data ecosystems. Further, this course interrogates data privacy, how technology influences ways of knowing, how technology shapes digital data, and whether online data accurately represents people’s lives.
