SOC 444 - Sociology Junior/Senior Seminar This junior/senior seminar provides an opportunity for sociology majors to explore sociological topics and ideas tailored to their individual interests in the context of a small scholarly community where students share sociological interests and challenges with each other. The course centers on the idea of a book club, with students and faculty doing a communal read of a sociology text, followed by students selecting a book of choice to read and discuss in class. Students then do a small, individual research project based on a topic of their choice, with the option to create a poster for presentation at the annual CARS Day on campus. The course emphasizes discussion, student participation, and presentation skills. Codes: ACFR. Open to sociology majors or minors with at least 9 sociology credits.
