Theatre Arts Major with Inclusive Adolescence Certification in English

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: ACADEMIC PROGRAMS A-Z

Students in this program pursue courses that include an introduction to all phases of theatre arts, academic as well as studio. This exposure provides a broad foundation in theatre history and dramatic literature, production styles, and design, along with practical experience in performance studies. Electives allowing limited areas of concentration and project courses in the senior year are designed for study in specialized areas under direct faculty supervision.

Students who elect to pursue inclusive adolescence teacher certification as a part of this program take special instruction in teaching methods and philosophy through the English department, in addition to their required coursework in the education department. In order to be eligible for the Professional Semester (student teaching), students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7. Students in this program are exempt from the Theatre Internship requirement.
