Theatre Arts - Major (BA)

Return to ACADEMIC PROGRAMS A-Z Return to: ACADEMIC PROGRAMS A-Z

The objective of the B.A. in Theatre Arts program is to prepare students for further study of and work toward a career in theatre. Students must study a variety of areas in theatre, from technical and design courses to acting and directing. These courses offer a thorough grounding in the history of theatre and the various philosophies behind theatre works, as well as the ability to analyze plays for production.

This program gives a broad and thorough preparation in the most important areas of theatre, while the College educates students in thinking and awareness of the world and its heritages.

In the summer after junior year, all students are required to participate in an internship to help facilitate the transition to the profession.

Core Curriculum Requirements

All Nazareth students complete Core Curriculum coursework as part of their degree requirements. The Core provides a foundation in the liberal arts and sciences while guiding students to pose and explore their own intellectual questions. See Academic Policies and Procedures  for specific core curriculum requirements.
