Music - Major (B.A.)

The Bachelor of Arts degree is a unique program in the department of music. The content is planned to provide a strong academic program in both music and the liberal arts. Its course of study allows the student to experience music performance, music theory, and music history and literature.

The Bachelor of Arts in music degree requires a minimum of 120 credits; 90 credits must be in liberal arts courses.

Music Core


All students in the Department of Music must take:

  • MUS 019 - Concert Attendance Credits: 0  4 Semesters
  • MUS 099 - Music Department Orientation Credits: 0
  • MUP 1_ - Weekly, one hour private lessons  8 Semesters
  • ENS 0_ - Major Ensemble  8 Semesters
  • 3 credits in upper division Music Theory or History and Literature courses (300 or 400 level)

Music Senior Experience


The Music Senior Experience allows students an opportunity to integrate their academic and performance training in music with the broad-based liberal arts curriculum of Nazareth College. It includes a publicly performed senior recital/project and a written component that reflects upon the integration of music and the liberal arts tradition.

Note: All Music Therapy majors add MUX*229 Music Therapy Proficiency Level I and MUX* 329 Music Therapy Proficiency Level II
