Theatre Arts Major with Adolescence Certification in English

Students in the Theatre Arts program pursue courses that include an introduction to all phases of theatre arts, academic as well as studio.  This provides a broad foundation in theatre history and dramatic literature, production styles and design, along with practical experience in performance studies.  Electives allow limited areas of concentration and project courses in the senior year are designed for work in specialized areas under direct faculty supervision.

Students who elect to pursue teacher certification as a part of this program also receive special instruction in teaching methods and philosophy through the English Department in addition to their required coursework in the Education Department.  In order to be eligible for the Professional Semester (i.e. student teaching), students must maintain a grade point average above 2.7.
