Studio Art majors may choose the
Graphics/Illustration specialization (see: Art Studio Major - Graphics/Illustration
Extension), or an optional concentration in Painting, Printmaking, Photography, Sculpture, Ceramics,
or Metals. After
taking a variety of introductory, intermediate and advanced courses in
a
particular area, students are expected to attain a thorough knowledge
of the
chosen medium and its aesthetic possibilities. Through individual and
group
critiques and a great deal of personal attention from faculty members,
students
are guided through the process of becoming unique artists in terms of
style,
content and aesthetic vision.
Our full-time faculty, composed of
studio artists, art historians and art educators, is supplemented by a number
of practicing professionals, highly respected in their areas. We have strong
working relationships with many local museums, schools and graphics firms,
providing our students with an active internship program.
Transfer Students in Studio Art must complete a minimum of five studio art courses at Nazareth
College.
Students must have an A.P. score of 5 to place
out of any Art Foundation courses (Art 101, 102, 106, 107).
We discourage the use of any Art A.P.
credit toward completion of the Art major.
