Women & Gender Studies is an interdisciplinary academic field that is committed to the study of issues related to gender and sexuality, in connection with class, religion, race, ethnicity, nation, age, and health status.

The  Bachelor of Arts in Women and Gender Studies is designed to accommodate students following a range of academic paths including double majors and professional program certification.

Women and Gender Studies intentionally crosses disciplinary boundaries and draws upon faculty expertise and scholarship from the liberal arts and sciences and professional programs across all four of Nazareth College’s academic divisions. The program serves as an intellectual location to foster collaboration among our already existing schools, departments, and programs at Nazareth. The major has been designed to accommodate scheduling for students following a range of academic paths including double majors and students seeking professional program certification. Students also have the opportunity to minor in Women and Gender Studies. Women and Gender Studies courses emphasize participatory education in which active student involvement and critical thinking are encouraged and made relevant in the learning process.

Students who graduate with the Bachelor of Arts degree in Women and Gender studies will be well prepared for graduate study and may continue their studies in a variety of academic disciplines with a focus on women’s and gender issues. Graduates will be prepared to work in a broad array of professions including those with a focus on social and economic justice, human rights, and advocacy.
