The department of history and political science offers undergraduate majors and minors in history, political science, global studies, legal studies, and museums, archives and public history. The history program emphasizes the long and complex develpment of human culture. The political science program examines relations and institutions of power on multiple levels. Global studies challenges students to grapple with the relationship between the local and global. Legal studies examines the role of law in diverse areas of social activity including business, non-profit sector, government and politics, public service and criminal justice. A well-rounded education offered by these programs enables students to develop the highest quality skills essential for success in all professional fields. These include: critical thinking, strong communication abilities, a love of knowledge and learning, and a deep understanding of how the events of the past influence the present and the future.
