Our undergraduate degree programs offer students majors in Studio Art, Art Education and Art History. Studio Art majors must concentrate in one of the following areas: Painting, Printmaking, Photography, Sculpture, Ceramics and Metals. A recognized specialization in Graphics/Illustration is also available to Studio Art majors. In addition to these programs, we offer a Masters of Education in Art.

Our mission is to develop in our students high levels of knowledge, skill, critical thinking, creativity and aesthetic understanding in a context of diversity.

Our full-time faculty, composed of studio artists, art historians and art educators, is supplemented by a number of practicing professionals, highly respected in their areas. We have strong working relationships with many local museums, schools, and graphics firms, providing our students with an active internship program.

Our graduates in Art Education have pursued careers teaching in school systems locally and around the country. Students who graduate with a specialization in Graphics/Illustration are employed by many local and national advertising and design firms. The art careers of Nazareth alumni vary widely from independent studios to TV/film production, Hollywood set sculpting, gallery management, architecture, publications, museum work, art conservation, and design.  Art History and Studio Art graduates who have gone on to earn advanced degrees are teaching at colleges and universities in the United States and Europe.

Transfer Students in Studio or Art Education majors must complete a minimum of five studio art courses at Nazareth College.

Students must have an A.P. score of 5 to place out of any Art Foundation courses (Art 101, 102, 106, 107). We discourage the use of any Art A.P. credit toward completion of the Art major.
