The Sociology and Anthropology Department offers majors in Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Science, and minors in Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Research.

A Major Program in Sociology

Required
SOC 101, 307, 352, and 444; three courses from the following basic substantive areas: SOC 204, 314, 320, 409, 410; nine credits in sociology electives; MTH 207. The senior experience consists of a senior seminar (SOC 444) which integrates material from sociology and other liberal arts core areas (history, philosophy, religious studies, literature, natural sciences, mathematics, fine arts), and a senior comprehensive (SOC 499).

A Sociology major may be combined with the Inclusive Education (Quadruple Certification Grades 1-9) program.

A Major Program in Anthropology

Required
ANT 101, 102, 318, and 444; fifteen credits in upper-division anthropology; SOC 352, MTH 207. The senior experience consists of a senior seminar (ANT 444) which integrates material from anthropology and other liberal arts core areas (history, philosophy, religious studies, literature, natural sciences, mathematics, fine arts), and a senior comprehensive (ANT 499).

An Anthropology major may be combined with the Inclusive Education (Quadruple Certification Grades 1-9) Program.

A Major Program in Social Science

Required
Introductory courses in four of the following: Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology; SSC 444; a specialization of 12 credits beyond the introductory course in one of the Social Science disciplines; 9 credits upper-division, from among the other four Social Science disciplines. A minimum of three credits in each Social Science discipline, introductory or upper-division is required. The Anthropology specialization requires MTH 207, SOC 352, ANT 101, 102, 318 and two upper-division anthropology electives. The Economics specialization requires MTH 207, ECO 101, 102, 333, 334; ECO 410 or SOC 352 and an upper-division economics elective. The Political Science specialization requires MTH 207, PSC 201, PSC 352, and three upper-division political science electives. The Psychology specialization requires PSY 101, 201, 202 and a course from two of the three areas in Psychology. The Sociology specialization requires MTH 207, SOC 101, SOC 352, two courses from these: SOC 204, 314, 320, 409 and 410; one upper-division sociology elective. Department Minors

A minor in Social Research is available to go with most majors (18 credits). Required courses: SOC 352; MTH 207 or PSY 201; CIS 141; ENGP 251 or 351; SOC 432; and one of the following: SOC 313, 320 or 410.
