PSC 303 - Political Philosophy: Plato to Machiavelli


An introduction to ideas of prominent political philosophers beginning with Plato and ending with Machiavelli. Readings from Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, Aquinas, Christine de Pizan, Machiavelli and others. Main topics include: the nature of justice, the purpose of political society, the source of law, democracy and other forms of rule, slavery, gender roles, as well as the intersections of ethics, power, and politics.
