PHL 272 - The Philosophy of Science


This course examines the foundations and workings of scientific theory and practice. It will consider topics such as the virtues of scientific theories, the nature of explanation, the role of observation in scientific discovery, and the social construction of science. Additionally, it will explore the limits of scientific knowledge, the difference between scientific reasoning and other forms of reasoning, and the relation among science, religion, and the humanities.
