SWK 634 - Collaboration, Supervision, and Leadership in Social Work I


This course focuses on understanding and promoting collaboration, supervision, and leadership in an interprofessional and collaborative social work context focusing on individuals, families, organizations, communities, and society. Frameworks for and principles of supervision, including key skills and responsibilities, will be discussed. An emphasis on inclusive, resilient, and transformational leadership skills that promote social change and justice are provided throughout the class. The course will review leadership theory in social work including assessment of leadership style and understanding of roles, functions, and responsibilities. Strategies for leadership development, leadership and management practices, strategic planning, developing human capital, and organizational and community collaboration will be explored. Pre-requisite: Completion of all 500 level required level courses.
