SWK 222 - Introduction to Social Work


Overview of the various fields of practice, and the role and function of the social worker in specific agency settings including alcohol and substance abuse treatment settings. Explores the evolution and philosophy of social work as well as the profession’s knowledge base, skills, and values. Classroom lectures and text materials are supplemented with agency field trips, and presentations by social work professionals. Prerequisite or corequisite to all other social work courses.
