RES 363 - Religion in America


This course examines the epic saga of religion and religions in America - from that of native peoples to the religions introduced by immigrants to new religions and religious movements that emerged in America - as well as how that saga is recorded in primary sources and recounted in comprehensive histories of religion in America. Special attention will be given to the contemporary religious landscape and issues of religious pluralism, interreligious conflict and cooperation, and religion in public life. Course Codes: BR.
