RES 351G - Qur’an and Social Justice


This course is to concentrate on the major themes of the Qur’an in the contemporary context with focus on social justice, ecology, women and gender relations. Besides these major topics, the course will also cover a variety of other topics such as the concept of God, creation, prophets and revelation, and issues of eschatology. Students will be exposed to some contemporary issues like Jihad, extremism, terrorism and Islam’s relations with other world religions and finally the Qur’an concept of interfaith dialogue before the close of the semester.
