LTED 624 - Language and Literacy Development in Early Childhood Education This course is designed for teachers of children birth through age eight including children with special needs and linguistically and/or culturally diverse children. The purpose of the course is to develop in-depth understanding of and teaching applications from current theory and research on early language and literacy development. Speaking, listening, reading, and writing will be studied as evolving, interrelated processes, developed in the overlapping, but sometimes conflicting, contexts of home, school, and community. Prerequisite: LTED 600 or Program Director’s approval.
