HIS 408 - PII The American Colonies


(Perspectives II course) This course will begin in pre-Columbian North American and conclude at the end of the French and Indian War in 1763. You will begin to develop answers to questions such as: How did Native Americans respond to European arrival? How did various religious beliefs affect the development of the European colonies? Why did Europeans arrive at African slavery as a solution to their labor problems? Why did the French ultimately lose their grip on North America? And perhaps most importantly, what did Native Americans, Africans, and Europeans learn from one another? Course Codes: R. Prereq: PEQ in History.
