PHL 317 - PII Modern Political Philosophy


(Perspectives II course) The course examines major figures in modern political philosophy, addressing such issues as the origins of government, private property, and the market, as well as the ideals of individual liberty, equality, and toleration. Readings include selections from Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Smith, Burke, Mill, Wollstonecraft, and Marx.

Prerequisites & Notes
Prereq: any PI in Social Science or HIS 103 and PHL 101 Adv Codes: BR Cross-listed with PSC 317.
