HRM 425 - Human Resource Development

It is undeniable that in the 21st century the only true distinguishing asset an organization has is its human capital. Human resource managers play a critical role in mining that human capital and as agents of positive change in their organization. Specifically, HR professionals are responsible for retaining and developing talented individuals; recognizing external influences on the human dimensions of their organization and designing systems and programs to take advantage of influences; and, creating organizational structures and cultures that foster speed, creativity and flexibility. This course addresses the role of HR as change agent both for the organization and the individuals who work in it. It brings together both traditional and progressive perspectives on human resource development. It also describes and investigates the various practices and techniques for training and developing employees at all levels of the organization.
