LTED 620 - Performance-Based Assessment of Literacy-Based Progress

This course targets the characteristics of and differences between standardized tests and performance-based assessments. Students explore various assessment procedures, study the essential differences between assessment and evaluation, and engage in the practical challenges of determining performance standards, as well as constructing performance tasks and rubrics. Course content also concentrates on identifying stake holders and determining and meeting their specific needs. Students explore the differences between the purposes and demands of internal and external assessment procedures. Students gear their reading and writing assignments toward their specific level of certification.
