PTR 511 - Kinesiology

This course emphasizes the mechanics of skeletal

muscle activity and the application of the

principles of physics and physiology to the

detailed analysis of normal and abnormal human

movement. Surface anatomy, joint structure and

function, muscle actions and biomechanical

influences (kinematics, kinetics, and

anthropometrics) are examined. Gait cycles are

addressed, with specific attention given to

individual joint motion and muscle activity

occurring in swing and stance phases of gait.

Students are required to present a task analysis

of a common movement strategy.
