MED 560 - Kodaly Institute Level II

The Kodaly Level II will provide students with tools necessary to become competent in music literacy and builds upon the content and experience learned in Kodaly Level I. The Kodaly approach is a dynamic, exciting way to teaching and learning based on the developmental readiness of the child. The process involves a sequential layering of skills and concepts designed to build success for every child. The course objectives include: understanding of rhythm developed through the use of movement activities and rhythm syllables; melodic and harmonic understanding developed through the use of solfege syllables in the moveable do system; interval training, and hand signs. Students will engage in singing, instrument playing, improvisation, composing and arranging, reading and notating, analyzing, evaluating, and conducting. Comprehensive music literacy is the goal.
