TSL 605 - Culture and Context in TESOL/Bilingual Curriculum and Assessment

This course develops cultural perspectives on language teaching and learning, and examines the impact of culture and context on curriculum and assessment in a broad range of programs and pedagogies, which serve English Language Learners. The New York State Learning Standards and TESOL Standards provide a basis for the development of a substantial curriculum project which incorporates language and content, materials, community resources, attitudes and behavior related to culturally and linguistically diverse students. Principles and practices of both formal and informal assessment of English Language Learners are also explored.
