MPH 507 - Health Care Delivery in a Global Society

This course offers the student the opportunity to critically examine the search for health in contemporary society. Demographic, sociological, cross- cultural, economic and epidemiological variables affecting health-seeking behavior and health care delivery will be considered. Classic issues of access, cost, and quality of health care will comprise the framework of the course, accented by the rapid evolution of health care changes unfolding before us. Historical imperatives, ethical dilemmas, legal implications, and issues of social justice will emerge as the underpinnings of our investigation of American and comparative international models of health care. Prerequisite: successful completion of all prior courses in the established program sequence.
