INAD 509 - Physics Curriculum and Methodology for Inclusive Adolescence


The course is designed to help preservice high school and middle school science teachers to become a successful, effective, and professional physics/physical science teacher. The course includes elements of both theory and practice and it serves as a foundation for additional professional development. Field experiences, in which students observe others teaching and implement their own teaching strategies, are an important component of the course. Students are expected to assume an active role in the transition from student to teacher. Students will practice peer teaching of lessons. Additional assignments are included in the syllabus and are designed to culminate in the development of one full physics unit plan. Students are required to join the National Science Teachers Association or the American Association of Physics Teachers. Prerequisite or corequisite: INCL*501. 50 hours (the aim Grade for 10 -12 ); 50 hours required for TESOL/Adolescence; 50 hours in Content (the aim Grade for 10 -12 ) required for Changing Level Adolescence students.
