LTED 607 - Literature for Equity and Advocacy


Candidates are acquainted with the broad spectrum of literature for children and young adults. Emphasis is on assisting candidates to develop the ability to select and use literature as part of their overall reading program in order to advocate for equity. Literature is explored critically to understand and evaluate underlying messages. Candidates will learn to match books with the identities, interests, needs, and abilities of students who display wide and diverse backgrounds in alignment with social and emotional developmental factors. Focus will be on how children’s literature and young adult literature can be integrated throughout the curriculum. Prerequisite: LTED*600.
