PTR 523 - Soft Tissue Techniques

This course will provide the students with a basic foundation for hands-on soft tissue assessment and intervention. The student will gain an understanding of the muscular and myofascial system, and how soft tissue interventions can improve a person's function and well being. The course will be grounded in the fundamentals of Western massage techniques. Other theories and techniques will be explored including Myofascial Resease and Muscle Energy Technique. Students discuss current evidence on the different theories and techniques. Palpation of soft tissue and bony landmarks of various regions of the body is included.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of all prior required PT courses.
