While the Admissions Committee gives primary consideration to academic achievement and potential for collegiate success, talent in art, drama, music or co-curricular activities enhances a student’s application. Attending an information session, although not required is encouraged. This allows the applicant to view the campus and meet with an admissions counselor. Applicants may seek admission in either the fall (August) or the spring (January) semester.
Nazareth College provides students with three options when applying for admission as a freshman: Early Decision I, Early Decision II, and Regular Decision. A binding commitment to Nazareth is required for students accepted under Early Decision I and Early Decision II. Nazareth College is a member of the Common Application which is available at www.commonapp.org.
A required course of study for freshmen admission includes four years of high school English and Social Studies, three years of Mathematics, Science (two of which should be laboratory sciences), and a Foreign Language. Four years of Mathematics, Lab Science and a Foreign Language are recommended.

Admission of International Students - General Information
Nazareth College welcomes students from other countries. International students may submit their application throughout the year, but the deadline is February 1st for Fall admission. Nazareth College offers Intensive English courses through the English Language Institute for students who do not fulfill the English proficiency requirement. Official bank proof of financial backing is required.

Nazareth College is a member of the Common Application. To be considered as a freshman applicant, please submit a completed application along with an official high school transcript and a minimum of one letter of recommendation from either a teacher or school counselor. The $45 non-refundable application fee is waived when filing an application electronically.
Nazareth is test optional school and no longer requires applicants to submit SAT or ACT tests scores in order to be admitted to the college. If the applicant chooses to include SAT or ACT results, tests scores must be included on the official high school transcript or sent directly from the College Board or ACT.
Admitted freshmen choosing to enroll, must submit an enrollment deposit before May 1st followed by an official, final high school transcript after graduation.
Admission of International Freshmen Students
Completion of a comprehensive pattern of college preparatory study with grades of B or better in all subjects is required. High school grade point average and test scores are used together to determine eligibility.
Graduates of foreign high schools should possess a high school grade point average of B/3.0 or better (A=4). Official secondary school transcripts/diploma/marksheets in English - including names of all courses taken, as well as grades obtained - must be submitted. Transcripts must also include an interpretation of the school’s grading scale.
Applicants from foreign high schools and whose native language is not English are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) administered by the Educational Testing Service, Box 899, Princeton, New Jersey 08540, USA with a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test, 213 on the computer based test and 79 on the internet based test. This test is given throughout the year. Results must be forwarded directly to Nazareth College. A score of 500 or higher on the Critical Reading Section of the SAT waives the TOEFL requirement. Nazareth College’s institutional code is 2511. Nazareth College also accepts the International English Language Testing System. A score of 6.5 or better on the IELTS exam is required for admission.
Application Deadlines and Notification of Acceptance
Nazareth College offers Early Decision 1, Early Decision 2 and Regular Decision application plans. Please check the Nazareth College website www.naz.edu/admissions for application deadline dates and notification dates.
Admitted Early Decision candidates wishing to enroll must submit a $300 non-refundable deposit to reserve their spot in the freshmen class.
The enrollment deposit for Admitted Regular Decision candidates is refundable up to May 1st, but is non-refundable after May 1st.
After a candidate has submitted their enrollment deposit holding their space in the freshman class, information on housing (for those interested in living on campus) as well as information on course selection and registration will be sent. Required health and medical forms will be made available on the Nazareth College website. The health forms must be completed by the candidate’s physician and sent to the Office of Health Services before the student begins classes.

Nazareth College welcomes applications from students in good academic standing from fully accredited two-year and four-year colleges and universities. A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher is preferred for consideration. Candidates for teacher certification must have a minimum grade point average of 2.7. Prospective Occupational and Physical Therapy applications are reviewed on an individual basis based on space availability. Nursing applicants must earn a minimum of B average in nursing pre-requisite coursework to qualify for the program.
For Fall admission, applications for Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy are due by March 1. For all other programs, the preferred deadline is April 1. For Spring admission, applications for Nursing and Physical Therapy are due by October 1. For all other programs, the preferred deadline is November 1. An official transcript must be submitted from each college or university attended (even if no credit has been granted) in order for transfer students to be considered for application review. In addition, transfer students with fewer than 30 semester or 45 quarter hours of college credit at the time of application must have copies of their high school transcripts forwarded to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Notification of acceptance for transfer students will be done on a rolling basis with the exception of nursing, occupational therapy, and physical therapy.
The last date to request an enrollment deposit refund for the fall semester is May 15, and for the spring semester is January 1. After these dates, enrollment deposits are non-refundable.
Transfer Admission for International Undergraduate Students from U.S. Educational Institutions
Successful transfer applicants must have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher in all acceptable baccalaureate level course work. Applicants with less than 2.5 GPA will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Official transcripts are to be sent directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Credit for advanced standing may be granted by the Academic Advisement Center only for courses comparable to those offered at Nazareth College.
Official copies of diploma/graduation certificate with certified English translation are also required, if applicable.
Transfer Students from Foreign Educational Institutions
Successful transfer applicants must have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher in all acceptable baccalaureate level course work. Applicants with less than 2.5 GPA will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Two copies of official transcripts with certified English translation are to be sent directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Transfer students who are admitted to Nazareth College and who have earned, or will have earned, a two-year degree (AA or AS) from a fully accredited college or university prior to registration at Nazareth College are ordinarily granted 60 credits and junior status. Depending on previous courses, however, and the major and degree program selected at Nazareth College, some students may need more than 60 additional credit hours to complete a bachelor’s degree program.
Transfer students transferring to the Nursing Department with an AAS degree in Nursing are ordinarily granted 60 credits and Junior status. The maximum transfer credits awarded is 66.
Other transfer students who do not possess the AA or AS degree and wish to transfer credits to Nazareth College from fully accredited* two year or four year colleges or universities, or other institutions of learning (foreign, trade, technical, music, art, fashion, and business) will have those credits awarded on a course by course basis.

Special Admission Programs (HEOP/YOUNG SCHOLARS)
The Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program
The Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) was created in 1969 by the New York State Legislature to help academically and economically disadvantaged New York residents gain access to the state’s private colleges and universities. The HEOP program at Nazareth is jointly funded by the College and the New York State Education Department. HEOP provides a broad range of services to New York State residents who, because of academic and economic circumstances, would otherwise be unable to attend post-secondary non-public educational institutions.
Young Scholars Program
The Young Scholars Program is an educational experience for high-achieving under-represented students that establishes a career path by promoting academic achievement, collaboration and leadership. For selected students, the program is a comprehensive, year round, guided learning and growth experience for Nazareth College undergraduate students. Students selected to participate are identified as high achievers by teachers and administrators from the various schools throughout the United States. It is a bachelor degree program for young men and women who are seeking a challenging, yet supportive, college experience.
The Young Scholars Program incorporates a learning model to maximize opportunities for learning, research and internships.

High school juniors who wish to apply for admission at the end of grade 11 should follow the same procedures as for freshman admission. In addition, they must submit a statement of parental permission and a statement from the high school indicating that a high school diploma will be awarded to the applicant after completion of one or two semesters at the college. They must also complete an interview at the college with a member of the admissions staff. Students matriculated under early admission are not eligible to apply for financial aid until they complete their high school graduation requirements.

Students who have interrupted their studies for a semester or more and wish to return must file an application for readmission. If the student has taken courses at another college or university since attending Nazareth College, an official transcript of the work completed should be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Deferred Admission Plan
Students who have been accepted for admission may delay entrance into Nazareth for a period of up to one year. Students wishing to defer admission should request this by writing to the Director of Admissions. Students who defer must submit an enrollment deposit to hold their place in the freshman class by May 1 of the year they wish to enroll.
